Its been just short of 5 months and we got 2 eggs this morning. I believe the hen unknownst to us layed them from our perch bar above our nesting boxes. About a 6" drop. One was shattered from the drop and the other had a hole in it. The egg shells were very fragile and thin. I believe its time to add oyster shells to their feed and change our feed to a blend that contains some calcium and other nutrients to their diet. Since I dont know what causes soft shells, I am asking for some help and recommendations from you. A little help please!

Congrats on the eggs!

Oyster shells would defiantly be beneficial. Are they on layer feed?

Havent started layer feed as yet. Our grainery supplier told us to wait til they were 5 1/2 to 6 months. I will add both the oyster shell mix and layer feed to what I have left in their feed storage container. ( Metal garbage can with lid). Once that is gone, I will get them on a recommended layer feed with oyster shells added to it.
