Well a couple days ago somthing killed my 2 ,3 month old chicks.I was extremly mad and sad becouse they were 2 out of my only 9.So I baited a live trap with some chicken, bread and beef. And just now I noticed the trap was sprung.Im not to sure what do with the racoon though.I was thinking of taking a big garbage can and filling it with water and dumping the whole trap in there. Will I catcha disease or somthing by lifting the traps handle and carrying it over to the trash can filled with water?the handle is about 5 inches from the actual trap so it can scratch me.Are there any other ways to kill it?Plz try and keep in mind that im 13 and dont have a .22 or anything like that.I just have a bb gun but I doubt that will kill it.

In our area local hunters would LOVE to have that coon to use with their young coon hounds for scent training, and we also have a thing called critter getters that will come and relocate them for a fee (I have NO idea what they do with them when they take them away) and I probably dont want to know lol

Congrats!

Put on some gardening gloves and drown that pest!
No, You can't catch anything if it can't touch you.

Kudo's to you for not trying to pass your problem to someone else!!

You got him!!!

Try a broom handle to pick up the trap and drop in the can. Best way if you can't get an adult with a gun to take care of it for you! Get a picture of your first coon too! Wear gloves and be careful!

Whenever I dispatch a predator I say a little prayer asking for thanks and forgiveness and do the deed. I'd take their advice and walk away. Coon's can hold their breath longer than we can. When it's all done, dispose of it with dignity. You won't feel as guilty by respecting the predator or how you were able to finally catch him.
