I got my chicks! How do they look?

The chicks look great! Congratulations.

Be sure the paper isn't too slippery as this can sometimes result in leg problems in chicks. When you do switch to bedding, make sure you don't use cedar shavings, as that can cause respiratory problems in chicks. I use pine shavings.

So cute! I use pine flakes for mine, but cover it with paper towels for the first day or two. If you have the choice of sizes, get the large flake kind, not smaller fine shavings. First time I brooded I didn't know and I was battling pasty butt until I switched to big ones.

I put mine on news paper- not the slippery kind, but then give'm other surfaces to walk on. my new hatched chicks like quilts.they hop up on the quilt bed to sleep and off to eat and poo. The bed you see them on was there couple of hours.
