I have no idea which one is laying yet...lol...simply bc I can't tell them apart still...it was funny that we just made more nests for the chickens yesterday bc the guineas would sit in the nests and not allow the chickens to lay there..

I hope you don't mind but... why do you have guineas?

Chickens, Turkeys, Ducks, Geese I get, but why guineas?
My Grampa had some at one point, but I never knew why.
We never had guinea for supper, and I don't recall eating guinea eggs.

I do remember LOVING the feathers. Awesome little checkerboard pattern.

Feel free to ignore, just thought I'd ask as I'm just a nosey posey.

Don't apologize for asking questions...I have them 1)...because my hubby just had to have them...

Then, after doing research, and asking questions here...I found out about my second reason for having them...and that is that they make good guard "dogs" of the chicken yard...alerting if there is something strange aound the yard...they also eat snakes, insects, etc...(they don't even let our yard cat in the run...when we decided to put our rabbit loose in the yard...the guineas went after him for about a week...)

The eggs are edible and I have heard that the meat is dark and good in a gumbo...LOL

Reaaallly. Wow. Thanks so much for the input.

I never did know why Papa Dub wanted them. They seemed dumb as posts (as per the ran into the road stories) so I didn't get it.
And now Papa is gone, so I can't ask. Appreciate the info very much.

Esp. since I hate snakes.

If you have guineas you don't need cable TV. They are way more fun to watch. They are tick vaccums. Dogs don't bring any hitch hikers into the house since we have had the guineas.
