I happen to love Twitter (and yes, I am 50 years old)! I learn SO much and find so many great articles & websites from all the people I follow (currently 904 and growing).
Tweeting can draw attention to whatever you like (such as backyardchickens.com & this awesome message board!)...how about driving traffic to your chicken blog (or whatever blog/site you may have)?? Do you have an odd fun fact...a cool site...a great article??
I just sent out this tweet to 904 people:
"Anything and everything you always wanted to know about raising chickens...join the forum & don't be afraid to ask!! http://bit.ly/4aOk9S" and if any of those people like it & want to pass it on, they will "retweet" it to all of their followers, who will retweet again...and on & on.
I've found lots of chicken folks on Twitter, including several from across the pond...I also follow many gardening people, foodies/chefs/food bloggers/cooks, several freebie & discount sources, musicians, and even real-life personal friends too
There's a world of interesting people out there!
The absolute first thing you want to avoid is "protect my updates" ~ if you do that NO one will see what you've posted except those you "approve" and even they have to go to your page to see what you have to say.
If you'd like to post your Twitter handle, I'll follow you, and I can help with any questions you have. You can find me at
