Hi,

My name is Kristy - My fiance and I just bought a 7 acre mini farm around Marietta OH. We are very excited to start working with chickens, ducks, pigs, the whole nine yard. We are working on hammering out the details on the coop and plan to have jersey giants as our main chicken.

Any one from that area?

Welcome Kristy! Sounds like you have a nice little farm going there! You will love the Jersey Giants, I have 2 in the brooder right now. If you want to find people near you in Ohio check out your states thread, you can find it here https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=270925

It has a list of threads for each state so you can find people near you. You may also be able to find a jersey giant breeder in Ohio. Hatchery birds are fine, that's mostly what I have, but you will definitely see a diference if you get them from a breeder, some of the Jersey Giants from hatcheries aren't that big. Once you find the Ohio thread don't be afraid to introduce yourself again, the people on here are great and will always be glad to offer advice and help!
