I know this isn't a chicken (those questions will come in a couple of weeks when my second set of Brabanters are in the hatcher.
Anyway, I had 3 turkey eggs hatch this morning and right after the poults came out, one died. Can anyone tell me what that might mean? The temp is 100°F and the humidity is 75%RH. They all seemed like they were pipping fine. They are much slower than chicken chicks, but their shells are much thicker also. The other two are doing just fine and resting and periodically moving around.
Two days ago, I had 5 other turkey eggs hatch (in another hatcher) and they all did fine.
I guess that death can happen at literally any stage of this process. It just seems so sad that it made it so far and then to die at after it escaped confines of the shell ready (or so I thought) to start living on the outside world.
I would be interested in your thoughts.
Thank you,
