Hi! So I have ordered a an Eglu cube with 3 metre run. At the moment the chicks I have are...

1 polish
2 Sussex
1 buff Orpington
2 silkies

how many more can I fit in the coop? Also, would you recommend to add one more metre of run? Does anyone have pics of their Eglu run that’s 4 metres?

So I am planning to buy an extention of 1 metre, this gives me a total of 4 metre run. They will be free ranging when I am around. This is how big it will be

None. You already have too many. I believe those are only 3x3 ft. Which means the coop will only fit 2 full sized birds. And the run will only fit 1.

I just looked them up and was so confused because I saw the same dimensions as you and its advertised to house 10 chickens?!?! That is insane!

The minimum recommended is 3 square feet inside the coup so a 1 square meter coop would house max 3 birds. For the outside run you would need 1 square meter per bird at minimum. So with 6 birds I would say you need 2 of the eglu cubes with 4 meter run and if you were to take the other birds offered you would want 3 of those coops and runs. Totally not your fault, it's so frustrating and terribly irresponsible for these coop manufacturers to advertise way over true capacity for them!

In the reviews, it says lots of people have 10-11 chickens. I def don’t want it crowded. Now I’m thinking I should get 2 more metres but that’s £200!!

If they are going to be free ranging everyday the run wouldnt be the issue. The actual coop will be the problem. They will peck each other trying to roost and sleep in the coop when you lock them up at night.

If you look more I to detail it says it can house 10 bantams. Bantams only require 2sq ft per bird but its still too many. I would put maybe 4 bantams in there.

Ok so, I will not add any more chickens to the flock, will keep it to 6. I will buy a metre extension which will give me 4 metres of run for them. I am planning to let them free range in the garden anyway for at least an hour a day.

Refuse the three more. You can’t fit them without it becoming dangerous to them.
