No, they will likely all want the same one or two, I have six girls and they use two nest boxes out of five. If you given them three, that should be good.

LOL. I have 6 nest boxes in my main coop. I will frequently have 6 eggs or more in a single nest. The hens have favorite nest boxes, and it seems that if the "boss hen" decides she likes a different one, the new choice soon becomes the favorite. There are a couple of hens that don't care, and will lay in different boxes, but they do lay in the same ones on a regular basis. Even in my breeding pen coops...each breeding pen coop has three nesting boxes. Only one is used regularly. I have even found eggs just outside the favorite one on the floor. The hen was apparently waiting for her turn in the favorite box, and laid her egg while waiting, rather than use a different nest.

I have 12 Golden Comet hens I have 6 nest boxes they only use the same 2.

WOw hahha.. there are boss hens?? How can you tell which is the boss hen?

I have 25 Chickens they all use the same box, I have 7 others for them to choose from but they all like the same one. I don't even try to understand it. As far as the boss hen look for the one who is always on the highest perch the one who gets to eat first the one who all the other chickens run from thats the boss. When you feed treats look for the one who is eating them the entire time not running in and out to get a taste.
