i have a old chicken coop from when my great gramps raised over 1000 chickens but we dont have him now well we used the front part to strip tobbacco when we raised it but i was just asking how big a run would i need to put for about 25 or 30 chickens just wondering i am new at raissing chickens thanks and see you all latter

As big as you can make it.
Will they get to free range at all? That is when they are really happy.

No less than 10sf bare minimum per bird, but bigger is much better.

ok i have a place that they can roam a bit if i am out side but i also have a pretty big area for them to have a run idk yet might just let them run thanks for the info

If you decide on a fenced in run for them, just make it as big as you can. Mine is about 4000 sq ft for 20 birds and they keep the grass eaten; I let them out of this area when people are out and about with them. Down side of course is you can't really predator proof a big yard like that. A 5' electric fence does pretty well but is not Fort Knox. There's nothing chickens like better than a whole lot of space.

well as of right now i am going to go with a small area like 4 or 5 feet off the coop and about 30 or 40 feet long then i am going to add to it as they get bigger would that be ok for 18 chickens if not i got alot of space i could fence in was just going to let them out side for a bit then when i get more its going to be a real big area if that would be good for about 18 pullets for now what you all think

5x40' should be a good size to start off with. Don't expect the grass to be there long, though.

yea i know thats ok ant got to mow it then we have about a 3 or 4 acre front yard and it takes to long to mow it as it is now.
then i was going to exstend when i get more witch is going the first of may hopfuly well if not i am going to get them wher they are just now laying
