I’m looking into ordering some snowie hatching eggs from Myshire. It’s my understanding that snowy is a result of crossing silver and pearl fee. So question number one, will this bring Italian Into my line? I’m looking to get snowies and cross them to mine and hopefully by next summer I’d like to have snowie celadons. There will obviously be a lot of interesting crosses popping out, and I’m hoping that Italian is part of the snowie makeup.

I initially wanted Italians, I contacted like 6 or 7 hatcheries and breeders, and no one has Italians in their celadon lines, so I figured I would suck it up and breed my own. I figured if I’m going to order, I should just go with Myshire, I was looking at all the colors and thought why not just go with snowie?

Next question, due to limited supply, I can only order 25 eggs, my incubator holds 44 with the turner in, I had planned to buy 50, and put them all in without the turner, hand turn for 6 days and then candle them and get rid of the duds. How many extras does Myshire usually give in your experience? Should I buy some snowies and some pearls or goldens to fill the incubator and get the most for my shipping cost?

You won't get 'duds' from Myshire.
Their fertility rate is fantastic.
When I order 25 I get 30.
I had assumed there would be duds because their site said to expect at least a 50% hatch rate. I’m glad to know it’s usually much higher. I just want the best value to start this color in my line and I want to have the most to choose from to get started. I was thinking it would probably be at least 70% hatch rate but I don’t wanna pat myself on the back just yet. My homegrown success rate is up to 90-100%, but my eBay hatch rate was like 65%, I figured Myshire would be somewhere in the middle.

I have hatched 100% from them multiple times.

The trick is knowing your incubator WELL.
