I hatched out 2 chicks out last night in my LG incubator and I had seen that the one black chick had shrunk wrapped in the egg but got out, the 2nd one was a buff chick and was the same way but I had to help this out. as I was doing so I saw something I had never seen before, around where the buff had zipped was dried yellow foam!!! and when I helped the chick out, the chick smelled awful!!!! what caused this?? also I just went to check on the 2 chicks and the buff has neck problems!!! so here is my genetic question................. can a roo or hen be carrying genetic problems and only show it in the chicks?? I ask because I had 2 other buff chicks with neck problems and had to cull them both but here is the thing the 2 chicks were 5 and 8 weeks old!!!! if so, how can I find out if it's one or the other?? this is heart-breaking for me as I LOVE MY JAKE !!!!!!!! I was trying to get a pure hen for him so I could have more chicks like my Jake!! his dad ACE and his UNCLE CLYDE never gave me any bad chicks and I lost both of them last year with only having JAKE as my sweet guarding roo. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
