I just need to admit my addiction. I just love, love, love these chickens and ducks.

I got 10 chicks from TSC on, 3/10/2010

2 ducklings on, 3/13/2010

then got 11 chicks from MPC on, 3/24/2010. 3 of these died. Now apparent reason. 1 during shipping, 1 a day later, and 1 a few days later. The rest are fine.

So...I find myself in TSC again, for pine shavings...you know we have to have a reason. My daughter goes right to the bins. All Cornish X left...shew, thought we were in the clear. Go for my pine and the next thing I know, all these new bins, full of new chickies, are brought out from the back. Oh my gosh, then the ducklings... I was in trouble. I spent 3 hours at TSC yesterday... I must be going nuts.

now we got 6 new chicks and 2 new ducklings on, 3/ 31/2010

Now I have a total of 24 chicks and 4 ducklings.

Out of 24 chicks;
2 chicks are to eat, 4 are definitely roo...the rest we shall see. I need help!

I feel for you cause I am in the same boat. I've been staying clear of the feed stores, and Coastal farm supply cause Im over and beyond my limit. I've got so many chick's right now and although I love just about every moment, I realize I have way to many, and I still have more eggs in the incubator. I live in the city with a 3 Hen limit...Im now trying to find ways to sneak in more w/o my neighbors knowing..I'd like to have at least 10 possible 12. Enjoy those babies.

Those are some beautiful chicks and ducklings. What breed are those chicks in the second picture? And those ducklings couldn't be any cuter!!! Embrace the addition... how could something feel so cute be bad for you? lol

Yes, I keep saying they grow up into chickens, but then this little voice, coming from my shoulder area...tells me it is ok! Then my Dh says to me...whatever, I thought you would come home with more. I know my coop and run can handle the chicks space wise...I just do not know what I will do with so many eggs.

My neighbor said, he would take some chickens that I do not want. once they grow up, I know I will have a home for the ones I can't keep.

i know this is a sickness, cause I am even looking at buying an incubator...

TAKE my chickens? I mean, take YOUR chickens you raised? Once I raised 'em up, I wouldn't let anybody take mine! Horrors!

I'm going to have a home for old chickens someday, because I'll never "process" mine and when they stop laying eggs, they'll just be freeloaders. How could I eat Bernadette? Or Buffy? Or Rebecca? Or Matilda... or any of them? How could I give them away? Whose home would be better for them than MINE???

*panting with anxiety* No, no, no. Not ever.

...okay so I'm being overly dramatic.... but... goodness.... these chickens started as chicks that depended upon me for everything... and they give me eggs AND so much pleasure.... and I want more of them. Wait, did I type that out loud???

i have no idea what those cute little speckled chicks are. They were just too cute to pass up. I tried looking on line and think maybe they are wyandotte. But I am not good at telling chicks apart. There are just too many that look a like.

If anyone knows what they are, please let us know! Thanks!

Is this the "chicken addicts" thread? Hi, my name is Wiglwerm and I am a chicken addict. I bought my first two chickens at an auction last November...I now have...19!!!

( I just had to take 5 minutes and write everybodies name on paper and add it up, LOL!!!!

) Just bought two new babies...1 yesterday and 1 more today, cause she HAD to have a friend. It's hard to keep up. (I wonder if I need to be on that TV show "hoarders", maybe they could have a spin off "The chicken hoarder"

The problem with chicken addiction is...chicks are pretty cheap!! Whats a couple of bucks?? (I justify my addiction) Came home yesterday with a peeping box, DH says "what...another chicken?" I look him straight in the eye with this peeping box in my hands and say "NO", why do you say that?"

(Isn't this one of the signs of addiction?

) I now have a chick brooder, a large coop and a LARGER coop!! Oh and DH is putting electricity to them (I think he is an enabler) They are sooo relaxing... after work to come home, get a glass of wine and sit in my glider and CHILLLLL, watching the chickens.

Dontcha agree?? (Oh yeah, stopped at Home depot last week...I have all the supplies to make my incubator)
