I have a brooding hen who began sitting on some eggs in the hen house while I was on vacation. When I returned home I removed my brooding hen and the eggs she was sitting on to a separate location away from my other hens and roosters (for the safety of the eggs/baby chicks) The problem is my son saw her out in the yard, caught her and locked her back up in the chicken coop with the other chickens. I did not know what happened to her until this morning when I was feeding my chickens and found her. She has been off the 8 day old eggs now for about 24 hours. Are the eggs still able to hatch chicks and if so will they hatch in an incubator?

I would let her set on the eggs for a couple of days.. Crack one open to see if its rotten or not OR candle them.. If you see they're still forming then there ya go! but if you notice that the egg inside starts to get cloudy they may be rotten.

If this is her first time going broody then shes bound to go broody again.... Some chickens wont do so well the first time the try to brood but im sure that she'll do much better next time.
