I have an addiction to hatching that flares up once a year for about 2-3 months. We just hatched 55 chicks and our bator is rotating to hatch another 66 eggs next week (eeek!!!) Thank goodness people like to buy our chicks or my hubby would be scared right now!!! We had 97% fertility and 85% hatchability. Hope that holds up for the next few weeks.

If you're looking for a dependable temp/hygro the small on by gqf is great that sticks to the wall of the bator. I have one in the bator and one in the hatcher 1/2 way up on the wall and they are holding very true (or at least doing the job of keeping the eggs on track.

We're setting up the second sportsman incubator today...hubby actually suggested it. We have too many eggs that we can't sell right now if we don't incubate these eggs. I don't want to throw them back to the chickens if I can make babies instead. In the hatcher is Tuesdays 66 and in the bator so far are 150 due in 2 weeks and 3 weeks and we'll be putting another 50+ in the second bator tomorrow or monday. Hubby draws the line at other fowl though. No geese and we'll buy our ducks and turkeys like everybody else. (Guess that's so we don't have to winter with breeders - foiled again.)

Yep I got the bug too same time of year as well. 4 frizzled cochin chicks at 2 weeks with their surrogate mom and another baby with another hen and 2 more eggs to hatch....2 more broodies out in the coop siting on eggs, one has 7 the other has about 6. I told myself I wasn't gonna hatch any this year but well we all know how that goes! I hate to pass up the opportunity to let the girls raise babies. I just hope they sell this year, last year it was extremely difficult to move anything then again 90% of the hatches resulted in roosters
