My flock is currently at that egg-citing (sorry, I couldn't help myself) stage where they're starting to lay! However, today I have an egg mystery that I need help with.
I've had one chicken laying medium brown eggs for about two weeks, and I'm pretty sure it's my Red Star. Today I'd already gotten an egg from her, but as I checked again just barely I saw two more eggs. They were both almost identical and right next to each other. One is smaller, and it's cracked. They're light brown, and really small.
I've been waiting for my Barred Rock to lay because she's squatting and her comb and wattles are really big and red.
I'm thinking that these eggs were laid by the same chicken. Either she laid two today (ouch) or one yesterday and one today but I missed it yesterday. What do you think? Who do you think it is? I have a Red Star, Barred Rock, White Silkie, Light Brahma, SL Polish, Black Australorp, and Easter Egger. The bolded are the ones I think are most likely to be it.
Also, my Red Star has been laying about every 23 and a half hours, so instead of going later she's going earlier. I've never heard of a chicken doing that, only over 24 hours. I know they're really good layers, but should I be concerned?

Thanks!

That might be a silkie egg, since they are small; However, it could be any of them. Many hens starts with smaller eggs then they get bigger. I hope this helped

Silkies tend to lay beautifully smooth and shiny eggs, which are quite narrow. They're very distinguishable from regular chicken eggs and really stand out in your egg basket.

They look like Australorp eggs to me. The suggestion from @Fields Mountain Farm is an excellent idea to know for sure. I'll be using that one myself :)
