Yes we have ducks. My husband thinks they are ducks eggs. I think they are chicken eggs. i didn't know if new brown egg layers lay light cream eggs as their first eggs.
It is more than a simple matter to find white egg laying hens in a flock. The white egg layers (as opposed to bone or cheam egg layers) will all have white ear lobes.View attachment 1125064
Check out this brown leghorn who only lays white shelled eggs. Do you see her ear lobes dangling from her ear hole?
Not all hens have ear lobes that big but all white shell laying hens have white earlobes. So your husband is correct, you're looking at a duck egg.
