this is the first time I raised chickens . I have five buff orp.s and five white leg horns pullets they are 17 weeks old I live in New Iberia Louisiana it get's 110 degree's here in august.
I am Worried about weather the buff orp.s are going to be able to take that much heat. if it is a problem is there a way to cool them down other than providing shade for them.
any answers would be appreciated

Pinky is correct. You can also provide them chilled watermelon, cabbage...that sort of thing to help keep them cool. I rigged a fan up outside the entrance to their house last summer to keep air circulating...I put it on 'low' at night. It gets blazing hot here as well during July and August...not to mention the extremely high humidity as Pinky can attest.

Make sure their coop is secure from predators but has lots of ventilation in the summer. One way to do this is cut large openings at the top of the coop and cover them with hardware cloth. Or if you have windows in the coop, you can use them for ventilation - just make sure they're covered with something like hardware cloth so a raccoon can't break in.
