You can't hardly give away a rooster.

My one off breed rooster is tearing up a few specific hens. They are to the point where there's no feathers left on their lower backs. The other hens don't show near the abuse.
So I can't give him away, and I'm not really ready to start butchering yet.
A friend suggest just let him free range all day. (we don't free range) and IF he comes back, great, let him in until next morning. Maybe that might make for easier days for the two hens.

If he comes back to sleep at night fine, if he doesn't so what, not a loss anyway.

I was thinking about changing my CL ad just to read FREE FOOD!
FRESH GROWN, YOU CLEAN IT, YOU COOK IT.

I butcher my extras, but maybe you could ask around the feed stores if they know someone that will take him? Our feed store takes roosters and gives them to a guy that butchers them and gives the meat to needy families.
