My guineas are 10 weeks old. I let one out today for the 1st time. I have 6. So 5 are in the coop. And of course, it jumped the fence and is in my neighbors pasture, but staying close. He is squaking, like he wants to come back to our side. I'm a bit nervous that he won't come back. I let just 1 out, to see if he'll stay close because I want them all to be out during the day eventually. They've never free ranged before. What's your input on guineas and coming back ?? Thank you!

The calling of flock mates should call the bird back. Then you have to figure out how to get it back in the pen. Be cautious not to spook it into flying away.

Guineas get really forgetful about how they got over a fence. Even though your guinea wants to come back it will just pace back and forth along the fence rather than fly back in.

You need to find a way to herd guinea back into your yard. Hopefully there is a gate that you can herd it through. Use long sticks as extensions of your arms and go slowly to encourage the guinea to go in the right direction. If there is nowhere that you can herd the guinea through the fence, you may have to resort to using a net to capture the guinea and return it to your home.

Good luck.

Thanks for the help. When guinea ended up coming back a few hours later. She flew over my neighbors fence a few more times after that but always came back. When I opened the door to the coop last night, she was happy to enter the coop to be with the rest of the guineas lol. Thanks again
