I bought 2 pea chicks a month ago and was told they were male, but he did say the one may possibly be female.
I think they are 3 months old and one is coloring out much more in the neck and is slightly bigger. They were hatched together and have the same parents. Would you say the one with less color is male or female? I included a pic of their backs. They both have barring, but one is darker. Thanks so much for any input and help!

The peachick with the barring and blue neck is a male and the brown wing green neck is a hen.

You hit the jackpot! One of each. I don't mind people asking when it is realistic to be able to tell, and yours are very easy to tell. We all need help at times, I have some four month old Purple Black Shoulder chicks that I still wonder about, and now that people are wanting to buy I am second guessing myself.

Thank you both so much! I was hoping and guessing, but maybe I shouldn't... because now for my next question... Can 2 full bro and sis be a pair and hatch out viable chicks?
Just wondering. I may never hatch any, but if I do, it would be for myself to have some tame pretty peafowl around. So she should help him not want to wander next year I hope! Or will a hen take off wandering with her mate?
These are my first as you can tell by my questions! lol I really appreciate your input!

Thanks for your reply! I have been researching peafowl and am one of those who is anxiously waiting for your videos on taming them! Awesome idea!
Mine are semi tame... they will allow me to touch them and come up to me for treats, but will hop out of my way if I try to pick one up.
Thanks!

They can reproduce but it's always better to have some different blood. Animals don't care about who they breed. It becomes serious when you keep doing it without new blood because other genes can appear and some can be bad.
