I just built and painted my coop. How long should i wait....

I painted the floor of my coop last night so it is definitely ALL dry though it does still smell a little bit. I am eager to get my chickens into it (and so are they) but I worry about the fumes a little.

My bf says they will be fine.
What do people here think?

P.S. My chickens are now 6 weeks old. On-line it says to start their heat at 90 degrees and decrease by 5 each week. Which means there should now have a heat source at 60 degrees. Its been about 50 during the day here so I should count on having heat in the coop for at least 2 more weeks. Right?

Hopefully, the paint was water based latex, instead of oil based. If so, you're right, it should be dry by now. It might be a good idea to let it cure for another day, because of VOC's (volatile organic compounds). Who knows what they can do to fresh little lungs?
With overnight temps in the 50's, you might put up a small heat lamp and shine it over a cardboard box with a door, in the coop. That way if they're cold, they'll huddle together in the box, and have a choice. Maybe with good bedding, they won't even need the heat lamp.

It was water based latex paint. I might give it a few more hours letting it air out with the doors open and then put them in for the night.

Good idea about the card board box I will do that!
