I just dont get it!!!

If muscovy cross hens lay eggs, why can;t they be fertilized by a drake by another breed, isnt laying eggs cycling?? I just dont get it!!!

I'm not positive, but I believe it's a problem at the DNA level, not something at the macro level. I believe when you cross a muscovy with a mallard-derivative, you get a bird with an extra tail of DNA or something (again, I am not completely clear on the details here) and it simply doesn't match up right with the DNA of another bird, and hence is unable to develop. PLEASE someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this is my understanding.
