so this is the third time my d,uccle has tryed to go broody but the bigger hens keep running her off the nest to lay eggs and so they break her on the third day of being broody before i can make her a spot just for her and i dont know if she will be a good mother she is the lowest in the pecking order and is scared of every bigger breed chicken i have poor little chicken is always getting pecked on so what should i do leave her to be broody and make her a spot just for her or break her it really seems like she wants to be broody this is her third time trying to and on the third day she breaks

Some of my best mothers have been low in the pecking order. (Lavender, Sylvie, etc.) If she wants to set, and you want to let her set, take her off of the nesting box (at night) and put her in a cardboard box with her eggs, water, food, and limited light. Let her adjust to the nest, and then open the box a few days later. Hopefully, she'll have bonded to it. (This is how I remove mothers from dangerous nesting spots. It always works with mine, but I do raise game hens and mutts bred to be broody.)

If she's still sticking with the nest in a week, slip some eggs under her and see what happens.

Thanks so much for your help

Personally I don't know who whould try to break a broody hen. It's so hard to find those any more. From all the regular sized laying hens (probably thousands) we've raised, only 1 ever actually hatched chicks. Bantams are a totally different story though.

Thanks yes I want her to hatch but I’m scared the big chickens will pick on her and her baby’s
