awesome! that’s great to knowI just saw this thread after dealing with a yellow jacket nest of my own on the corner of my run. I saw them around, they're always around, but I didn't realize the nest was right there till I got stung on the ankle. I'm a little allergic, not hospital level but my whole ankle was really swollen, super beyond belief itchy and painful. Still is, will take about a week to heal up. grrrrrr....very unpleasant.
I can't even put into words how much I do not like these little *#@.... I know they're part of the eco system and it's nature and all that but gosh, the pain and itching from the stings are enough to drive a person crazy!
What I did was wait till dark when they're all quiet (and I was less angry), used a long handled tool to expose the nest a little without disturbing it (it was under some rocks that hold the hardware cloth apron down) and dumped neem oil on it. it's not harmful to chickens like wasp spray would be. it worked on mine, after about a day I was able to dig out the actual underground nest and remove it and stomp it for satisfaction but they were all dead already.
