I just watched someone kiss one of my birds, repeatedly.

*I'm purposefully avoiding using a pronoun due to not wanting this person to somehow find this post*

A person who I'm baby sitting* a pair of goats for and is, in outwards appearances, an adult in complete possession of their mental faculties, kissed my BR pullet, Jelly Bean, several times on the neck and head. Jelly Bean has been outside, free ranging with the flock, rolling on the ground and just being a normal chicken.

*. She/he conned me into taking two disagreeable goats because he/she was "going to travel around the country with his/her kids". Turns out they just went to a town a long distance from here and purchased over a hundred acres of land. So the goats will go back to him/her.

So? My wife kisses everything more than several times; whether it be me, her dog, the squirrel, or one of the birds. Many of our pets end with my wife's slobber on them; ya get used to it. It does not mean a person is "lacking" in any way. The world would be a better place if people took the time to showed they cared.

Chickens can carry salmonella. She could easily get extremely sick. Please tell your wife why it's not a good idea to kiss chickens. You can ask anyone here. Please be sure to wash your hands after touching chickens, too.

Chances are, he/she will be just fine. Chickens can carry some nasty stomach bugs but it would be unlikely to catch it from a few kisses...unless of course they were kissing a different end! Lol!

That is a FUNNY post!!! Confession: I kissed my first chicken yesterday. I didn't mean to...it just happened. It was a bonding moment. The first time she let me carry her back to the coop. I couldn't help it. We didn't make out or anything, I kiss dogs and horses too...often. To be serious, salmonella from a chicken is typically contracted through ingesting infected meat or eggs. I always wear gloves when cleaning the coop, and wash my hands every time I handle them. Very low risk from an occasional smooch on the cheek. Serious again for a minute, after I gave her a smooch, I thought hmmm...better go wash and I did.

Oh thank you! I like to laugh at life a lot. It's going to happen anyway. Glad you laughed. STOP, the BO gal I smooched is friendlier than Yield and Go. I worked hard to make all of my first chickens friendly. 15. It was a moment. No chickens were molested or harmed. I just got tickled that she trusted me. Laugh out loud as often as you can!

Hey, I kiss animals myself. Usually on the head or muzzle (not near nose) - you know dry places. Not chickens because they would probably peck my eyes out, and not cats because they would probably slash me - okay guess it's mainly dogs, puppies that I kiss. The neighbor's dog has as soft as velvet muzzle & ears. I have to hang on to her collar though because she tends to pop up like a jack-in-the box and could do real damage.

Lol I'm pretty sure my DH was jealous of our new roo... I still carry him around and smooch him... Really anyone i can catch gets a snuggle lol...

I'm sorry lol, but the salmonella thing... Yeah wash your hands before eating, don't kiss the wrong end lol... It's fine. I'm positivevive been accidentally vaccinated for Bangs and scours, dipped for ticks, been exposed to anthrax, tapeworms, ascarids, bots, leeches, west Nile, and avian flu lol....

On second thought...

I better go wash my hands. :p
