It's been 6 days since we picked up our SLW hens Lola and Stella. I work 10 hour days and am not here during the day. So when I just heard a distinctive cackle, I ran outside to check on the girls and Lola was proudly proclaiming to the world that she just laid an egg. Good girl. How about a tomato? I feed them in a tray feeder with the holes in the top. I noticed right away they would rather peck out of the container I take in the coop to replenish their feed with. So I pulled the top of the tray back a little and they eat out of the end. Just now, although the tray is full, I shook some down to the end and both girls tied into it like starving dogs. Sigh.......maybe some day they will have me fully trained.
