So I let the chickens out of the run for the first time last night a little before they go back into their coop for the night. Everything went very well. As soon as one decided it was time to go back in then they all followed. I sure was hoping that it would work out. So tonight i sectioned my garden off for them. They had a great time in there looking for the squash bugs I wanted them to find. They took care of about half of them. Tomorrow I will let them back in the garden and hope they get the rest. They left pretty much everything alone except for the bugs and a taste or two of the swiss chard. All in all a good outing. I am still waiting for my first egg and trying to make them happy. Thats pretty good pesticide free bug controll.

That's so awesome, I can't wait until I'm that far along! I'm seriously hoping they're going to clean up the first part of our backyard for me, too many weeds! A good cleanup then I'll put in some pretty plants and maybe some (dare I think it?) grass! :D

How old are your chicks?

I have a chicken tractor and let mine out just before dark and instead of going into their awesome coop they roosted on the under cariage of the wagon it was really fun putting all one hundred back into the coop by hand.
