(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new to chickens. Grew up in 4h. Showed beef cattle. Family had farm/ranch. One of my best friends growing up had chickens. I have wanted them since I moved back to the state I grew up in and even more since we moved to the acreage we currently live on. My job is busy so my husband assumed a lot of it would fall to him at times so stalled until kids a bit older and this year we got them.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
16. Got 12 but one was sick from start. It died. Two weeks later replaced it with 5 more.
(3) What breeds do you have?
3 Rhode Island Red
3 black sex link
4 silver laced Wyandotte
1 speckled Sussex
5 Easter egger
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
Seeing my 9 year old learn about them and care for them.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Reading, knitting and getting into gardening

2 kids (6 and 9), wonderful stay at home spouse, busy job. 10 year old german shepherd
