We have had chickens for about 4 years. We live in the city and can only keep 4 hens. This year we decided to find homes for a couple of our older ones and we got chicks so we could raise them and pick our favorites to keep, based on personality, looks, and egg color. I'm looking forward to sharing and learning more!

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

I love starting with chicks. They are so quick to bond up with you and become so friendly! I have them out on the living room floor from day one, and of course as scary as the world seems to them, they all gravitate to my lap. Instant bonding with mommy! LOL Lap lovers for the rest of their days.

Enjoy your new flock! And we do welcome you to ours! :-)

Thanks! I have one rescued tetra brown (a production red) hen who is 4 yrs old and very sweet, and fostering a 3 yr old splash Plymouth rock hen. The rest are "teenagers" who haven't laid eggs or crowed yet, including 10 ameraucana or easter egger 1 polish, 4 silkie mixes, a silkie/polish cross cockerel.
