Whew! After 8 years I finally got brave (prayed a lot!!!!) and used the table saw for the first time - AND I still have ALL my fingers, woo hoo! I had learned here on BYC why my hens weren't using one of their roosts, and it was because it wasn't flat, as they prefer. So I cut a 2x4 to put there the right way, and guys, you won't believe this: I whacked it into place and it is such a perfect fit it does not even need nails or screws!
So ... having gotten over most of my anxiety (fear, panic, all of the above, lol!), I did it AGAIN, cutting two pieces to make a wider, flat roosting place on top of a sawhorse we've had in there just to give them an alternative roost so they won't feel crowded.
Oh, and I did use the electric drill to secure everything.
Somebody's strutting and crowing over here, and it ain't the roosters! GatorAde, anybody?
