I need a rooster!

In my (limited) experience with only a few Favorelles, the breed as a rule is very mild mannered, and our Favorelle roosters were also very mild mannered. Our RIR hens, on the other hand, were pushy feather pecking individuals, often not so nice to their flockmates. Your boy may take a bit longer to fully integrate into this group if that's how your individual birds behave. Everyone is still very immature, so he has time to grow up and when he hits puberty things may go his way...

That’s what I’m hoping. Everything I’ve read about Favorelles supports what you’re saying about their being a docile breed. Hopefully it won’t take too much longer…I’d feel better if he could join them in the coop for the cold nights.

Big Chungus squared off with one of our Olive Eggers yesterday. It was brief, but so awesome. He’s also going after treats right along with the hens instead of running away. Im really hoping I can put him back in with them soon!

Final update…Big Chungus got through the coldest part of winter in his private coop/run I threw together. One evening a few weeks ago, he decided to go in the big coop in the evening after the day’s free ranging, and has been sleeping there ever since. Pretty sure he’s fine now…haha
