I need help! Should I use a rooster collar on my rooster?

I just incubated some Jubilee Orpington's and now they are getting pretty old! I figured out that I have 2 roosters which for me is a bad thing. I either have to kill them or sell them... which both I hate. So I researched on how I could stop the roosters from crowing so my neighbors won't be bothered. I figured out there's such thing as I chicken collar, but I don't know if it will work after reading a thread about a chicken dying from the collar. What do you think? Should I get a collar for my roosters of should I sell or kill them? Or is there something else to be done?

Hello there! Personally, I did not have much success with crow collars, as they made the roosters crow not much quieter but very obnoxious.

I had to look up what these were, but they sound cruel. I would try to re-home them.

I've had them before. They don't work. My roos just crowed normally even when I positioned them right and everthing.

Can't you keep them in a box in a garage at night and early in the morning and let them out a little later?

I can't! My garage is to small and I have a VERY nosy neighbor who complains on us.

Do you have any friends who would like the rooster? When I rehome my boys, it's usually to nice people who update me on them (cough cough @KingD) and send me pics

hello there! I personally did not have any success with crow collars as they made my roosters crow not much quieter but very obnoxious and screechy. just to warn you once you find an answer I would close this thread as crow collar threads can often lead to other members arguing.

Thanks! I think I might try it out but I wont keep them on every second. I might just try re-homing them.

I don't have any other friends but 2 who have chickens, but 1 has a virus or something in her coop and can't have anymore chickens. If the collars don't work, I will make sure to see if she wants them!
