This is my first time raising chickens and I have had the since they were 1 day old, they are about 1 year old now. I have one hen that used to be the friendliest one in the flock then one day she became aggressive toward me. She has started pecking me when I get close to her and jumping and kicking me. I don't understand what's wrong with her and could use some help. I want to try and fix this before she hurts one of my small children and she becomes diner.

This means that you shouldn't even try to correct her behavior.

For aggressive hens, you can convince her that you are the top hen by grabbing her and holding her on the ground with your hands over her back for several seconds every time she comes up to you. Then let go. I have had to do this before...you have to be consistent. But with small children I'd just get rid of her. They can damage eyes.

x2 - even if they don't cause physical damage, they could cause your children to have a life-long fear of chickens. Part of my reason for having chickens is because I enjoy them. If I have one that is taking that enjoyment away, it needs to go.
