I NEED HELP!

see I had propane when I first started the batch, then we ran out of propane & have been using space heaters & I had them in a colder room & the temp kept going down then if it was a little warmer it would go way high.. I guess there are multiple things that could have went wrong with the batch but I feel like some people can look at eggtopsys & know what happened lol. I'm waiting a little longer to start this batch because I have moved the incubator to my bedroom where it stays warm all day & the temp can be consistent. I have the little valley like things at the bottom of my incubator, should I keep them all full of water at all times or should I fill half TIL lockdown then more?
Personally I would run the bator dry the first few days and monitor the air cells. If between 7-14 days your cells are looking as though they are growing too fast then fill them. At lockdown they need to all be filled and vents open.

I agree... As I said earlier, I was having a lot of problems hatching after one good hatch, figured out I was keeping the humidity to high... The instructions say 50% or more during incubation... I have found between 35-40 is where I have the best luck... Adding water at lockdown was even to much so I instead just add sponge strips and rewet those if it looks like I need to... Another way to get the humidity up without constantly adding water is to run a room humidifier.. I did that with one hatch and solved the problem also..

To the OP:

The thing to keep in mind is that it is trial and error, what works for me may not work for you. Its trial and error until you narrow down your own incubation method for the climate you live in. All any of us can do is give you guide lines... A wise person once told me if you are not willing to lose a lot of chicks in this process then quit trying to incubate.. I can safely say I have lost over 50 chicks in my push for a better incubation method for me. Good luck in which ever way you choose to incubate!!

thank you all so much! I will keep you posted on my next batch!
