My poor girl! She isn't worse and isn't better. Still mopey and lays down most of the time. The "symptoms" remain. When I put the food and water in front of her she will eat and drink. I am putting Probios dispersable powder on treats for her. She has Sulmet in her water since yesterday, and I have been giving her a few drops of Poly-Vi-Sol daily for 3 days now. Here poo is still green... the urates are white but it is all very loose and mucousy. I swear it looks like fibrous--- like it could be plant matter but she hasn't eaten any for a couple of days now. I have included pics. Just as a side note she has blu-kote on her head, wattles and comb (and she got it on me too!!!) because she was one of my roos faves and her head and back were becoming defeathered. She also had a saddle until I separated her from the rest. I checked her over real good and I cannot find any sign of mites, fleas, etc or any sores or wounds. Her crop is empty and her abdomen feels soft with no unusual lumps...The only other thing is that it looks either she is unsteady on her feet or else in pain --- she is limping and she is standing kind of hunched. Could that be just because she is weak or dehydrated possibly? Any ideas or suggestions? getting concerned!!!

Why are you giving her Sulmet? Does she have an infection?

I'm assuming it's been at least three days that she's been sick; I haven't seen an other post from you so I'm sorry if I'm telling you stuff that's already been said.

If the treats don't have a lot of protein I would go for some high protein food; egg yolks, scrambled eggs, some FlockRaiser or Chickstarter in gruel form. Make a creamy soup out of it and try to get her to eat that by putting some on her beak.

You are correct about the poo looking like vegetable matter but sometimes green poop can indicate a liver problem. Until this point was she a particularly "fat" bird? I know that RIRs don't get too chunky as a whole but fatty disease could be a factor.

Has she been wormed lately?

Sorry I don't have any more advice, I hope she gets better.

Thank you Mary. I gave her the Sulmet mainly because I could find little concretely wrong with her other than her weakness and green poo... I didn't get a response from my first question (Not blaming anyone --- it was the weekend and I know we all have other responsibilities) but being a nurse I know that a hidden infection can have similar effects on humans. The supportive care I am giving her seems to have helped some she is actually up walking around today and will eat and drink what I put in front of her--- which has been crumbles wetted with milk, scrambled eggs and oatmeal some chicken meat and tuna. She also has been getting the Probios and Poly-Vi_Sol... I haven't wormed her... should I--- can she have the Fenbendazole with the Sulmet or should I just stop the Sulmet? Thank you!

Also thanks to the others who gave my message a bump--- and gave me support!

Hi! Thanks so much! No she hasn't laid an egg for a least 2 days--- although this morning she seemed really determined to get into the main coop--- maybe that was the reason. I still have her separated because I want to make sure she is eating and drinking. I haven't given her any grit in a day or so--- I will try again--- at first she wasn't interested. I have DE--- I suppose I could give her a dusting with that... Thanks for everything!
