So my rooster has become a frequent visitor of my back porch. He is continually getting over the fence and he's a pain in the butt. I'm not sure if we're gonna keep him, but we need him for awhile for the fertile eggs. (I've got someone who wants to hatch some eggs). We've been doing the "showing him who's alpha" thing and it is mostly working. However, he did nip me the last time I tried to pick him up to put him back in. Now, we just use a stick and herd him back in.
Anyhow, I was thinking of covering his head with a towel or something, but even catching him is a little daunting right now. Any thoughts?
ETA: Oh yeah, I'm hoping that the hens that have started following him might stay put if he can't get over the fence. Do you think this is possible? Or will I have to do their wings too? I really didn't want to have to do it at all, but building the fence higher is just not an option right now.
