I have a duck egg that is currently on day 7 of incubation. I found it near my house in a patch of grass, all alone with no one to care for it :/
It will hatch around 04/28 and, as much as I want to, I cannot keep the duckling. I'm at a total loss as to how to find a good home for it. Can anyone help me with resources or honest, adoptive homes in Columbus, OH? Thank you!

Do you know what kind of duck it is?
It could be a wild duck egg, mallard or wood duck. Possibly muscovy. Can you post a pic of the egg?
If it hatches you could try posting an add on craigslist, although that doesn't guarantee the duckling getting a good home.

I believe it is a Mallard egg. I've been reading about it like crazy.
I just posted on my local craigslist and on Facebook. Fingers crossed.... only about 20 days left before hatching.

I know it difficult but sometime it's just best to leave an egg like that, until incubation it isn't a duckling even if fertile. There is a thread here called "where am I where are you" you can look up your state and maybe you'll find someone to take the duckling once it hatches.
Best to be prepared with all essential for brooding just in case it take a while.

I am somewhat near Columbus about 2 hours a bit less depending where..I’m in Defiance...I just got two baby Pekin ducklings...depending on breed I may be able to take the duckling..I just wouldn’t want my babies getting something from a wild species being my concern..can you post a pic of the egg and hopefully a member could identify and give us some info..?? I am willing though if I can and safe for my babies..even if was a wild species until he/she decided to leave the nest migrate etc...
