My chickens are now beginning to lay and I want to try hatching a few eggs. What brand and type of incubator would you suggest for the novice? I want to spend up to $100.00, no more. I'm sure this will drastically reduce my options but I want to see if I like the hobby first before I invest a lot more money.

I will be hatching standard and bantam breeds if this helps with your suggestions.

I just bought a Farmers innovator 4200. It has the circulated fan and egg turner. I paid 117, but it's up to 119 on amazon.

I have it up and running. I'm expecting eggs any day now!

I searched long and hard and I almost bought a brinsea, but it only held 7 eggs. The FI 4200 holds 41 eggs with the turner. This is my first incubator. I knew I wanted a fan for sure. The egg turner is a bonus.

The ones without the fan and egg turners are around $40. I know people who had great success with those too.

People like the hova bator too.

Thanks for the reply! I'll do some research on this model. It looks like a nice one and I like the fact it includes the egg turner.

I was wondering what the difference is in egg rate success on incubators with or without the fan. The egg turner seems like something I would require as I'm busy a lot and wouldn't have time to turn them when they should be or I might forget to.
