One of our girls managed to tear half of her comb off!
I knew I had to remove the little bit that was still attached!
Uhhhh!
Yup. Me?!?!
I was in no way prepared for this!
Thankfully, my amazing husband help hold her while I performed a "comb-ectomy".
We all survived...pullet included!
Thank God for BYC, books and google!

I had to this to my Orpington hen last year.
She got into a bad hen fight, & she had half of her comb ripped off. Her head was all bloody, the torn part of the comb was purple, & dying, so I climbed it off with a sanitized pair of scissors, & cleaned the wound with Hydrogen peroxide, & covered it triple antibiotic ointment.

5 days post surgery.
We added more "blue goop" antibiotic cream. She isn't fond of it.
How does she look?
