Has anyone used rye straw? I have a chance to get 200 bales for 25 cents a bale. Seems cheaper in the long run than anything else.

I am not familiar with rye straw but I have used regular straw in my boxes before. What is the difference between the two??

I think wheat and oat straw is bigger as far as the diameter if the shaft. it's been a while since i've seen it.

never used it for chickens, but used it some with horses in the past. it is longer (if I remember correctly), I found it harder to pick through in a stall b/c of that, but it kept the foals warm, clean, and dry just as well as regular straw.
