Tonight I am trying to get everything ready for school. Well, inside stuff anyway, since it is storming. Cleaning my room, getting a drawer in my side table cleaned out for binders and such. I forgot all about getting new shoes, didn't get a book bag, and just forgetting everything. I didn't even feed the dogs until they kept reminding me! I probably shouldn't procrastinate so much

But the worst thing yet. I cleaned the brooder in a hurry, didn't even scrub it down, dumped out the bedding into the trash put new bedding in it, put the chicks back in feed water. Then I put the top back on. About 2 hours later the house STINKS. I walk through thinking I left the oven on and in my room there is smoke! The chicks are peeping up a storm but I had the radio on. I pull them out and they were running around on my carpet. I took the top off and then a little flame started. I poured their water from the waterer on it and feel horrible. All the chicks seem fine, but it burned a little through the plastic bottom of the brooder so the hcicks have been smelling in burning shavings and plastic for who knows how long. The bulb was all black and I put a different light in there. I'm praying they are okay. I have them in the bathroom now, with the little circulating fan on, whatever you call them. They all seem fine and I hope they are.

I can't wait for the first week of school to be over. It starts Tuesday. After the first week the stress drops and I can relax. Tomorrow I have to set up the feed buckets so it's easier for my to go through and feed them. Then we are going to go look at bell waterers so the chicks has constant water without having to have it changed twice a day. But boy am I exhausted!
