for my chickens! My mom had a woman at a meeting who heard about my chickens and asked if I could maybe bring some and talk about them, for their Progressive Agriculture Safety Day. So I agreed but I had to skip school to do so, but today was only a half day (with an assemble) because tonight is prom. So I skipped. I toke 3 posters I made, 4 hens (and their supplies), my incubator, eggs, and I wore my BYC shirt.
So me and my mom went and educated 2nd/3rd graders (and several adults) on chickens. Pointed out my shirt and talked about BYC a bit. They learned about different color eggs, difference between hens and roosters, incubating eggs, broody hens, eggs don't come out perfect, the like treats, and that chickens are nice and soft

.
My hen KD (an EE) was the most easy to handle so she was held by me and petted by a bunch of kids, no pecking just kept looking at them like "What are they?" Here is a picture of her from last week:

I had George (RIR), Betty (WL), Grey, and KD (both EEs). George laid during the middle of one group and Grey freaked out at one point, in till I figured out her problem. She need to lay and was not laying on the floor gave her a box and she was happy. Both George and Betty toke being a cage just fine slept, ate, and relaxed. KD and Grey where not one bit happy about it, and weren't shy about telling you about it. Also they decided dumping the water was fun

. But their all home safe and happy, and I got a t-shirt.

Oh and the adults asked more questions and were more interested a lot of the time, then the kids.

I'll upload pictures of the set-up later.

That's awesome! Education just doesn't happen in school and I'm sure the public speaking experience was valuable. You probably got more out of today than if you sat in school waiting for the bell to ring...I know that half-days at school for me were a joke most of the time!
PROM! Are you going?

PROM! Are you going?

Nope! Not old enough to go with out being asked, and I doubt I would have gone even if asked. Also If your not at school the day of an event, you can't go to any school event that day.

That is wonderful! Those kids will always remember when the chicken lady plus chickens came to their class!

Thanks guys! I was called the chicken lady a lot, but I really didn't mind. During the students' lunch from some where behind me I heard the words "chicken" and "crazy", but I really don't care.
