I suppose old greek crested breed, but male or female?

thanks. unfortunately the black one was killed by a dog. the other one is still here, get broody and raise chicks. I have a blue pullet as well and just ordered a blue cockerel so I might work on officially recognizing this breed. the lady I got the blue greek crested chickens from is interested in it too. anyone else can join the club.

btw, I live in salamina at the moment but plan to move to beotia (derbenoxoria or ag. thomas - oinofyta). the other lady lives in pilio.

so sorry you lost the black one. Hope you will work on getting them recognized as a true breed.

If you wan't my advice, don't try it.
But styrian, legbar or sulmtaler chickens.
Most of the characteristics of the crested greek birds get lost so many years ago.
I know it because I had them and because I am Greek.
You will find crested girls but no crested roosters.
The crest of the roosters has beed disappered because of mixes and crosses with commercial chickens.
Also, the greek crested birls have problems with their combs. You will not find a specific comb type.
I know some farmers who can help you, but believe me.
The best option is to buy the crested breeds I mentioned.

I haven't ever heard that Greece has heritage naked necked chicken breeds.
I only know about naked necked silkies and the transylvanians.

In my opinion, these are mutts.

they don't look like the other greek crested chickens. I agree they must be mutts.
