I think I broke my chicks leg.

Ugh... I feel horrible right now. I have two brahma chicks. I'm not sure how old they are. I've had them a week, they are just starting to get feathers on their wings. I was moving them from their little run to their cage for the evening. I have 8 chicks total so I use a cage to move them. It is a wire cage, the upper portion sits in a plastic tub. While I was moving them the little ones leg slipped inder the wire and got caught. It is either broke or dislocated somewhere. The whole leg is dangling. I don't know what to do? Should I euthanize?

I accidentally stepped on a Polish chick once not too long ago. It was older and fully feathered, but still less than 10 weeks old. I isolated it and it hopped around with one dangling leg for like 5 days and then one morning it was fine! I couldn't feel any broken bones on mine though, I think it might have just been sprained. It's so hard to tell.

If I were you, assuming you can't afford a vet or don't have one that treats chicks, I would try to make a little brace for it and see what happens.

I had a silkie that got stepped on by a much larger chick and she did the splits and was pinned like that until I could reach over and pick up the clunker that was standing on her right leg AND her left wing somehow!!! She was in a LOT of pain and did not stand or even eat for a day and a half. Just peeped and finally was able to get some water down her, then some wetted chick starter and it took about a week of nursing and isolation with some newly hatched chicks for company before she could walk. I kept her with tiny buddies for probably a month. She finally recovered and grew up to be a real beauty. I did NOT feel any crunching, grating grinding broken bone sounds when I examined her leg.

If I were you I would dip the baby's beak in water several times a day to at least keep it hydrated until you can better evaluate it tomorrow. Keep an eye on her toes. If they start looking skinny and knobby where the joints are she is VERY dyhydrated and you need to dip her beak more often. Good luck with your chick. Here is my silkie girl that I though was a goner for sure! The splash one...
