Hi my name is Beth and I am a chick-a holic!

It all started when I order my five ducklings from Ideal and they included eight chicks for warmth, males I might add. Of course I have no need for eight roos and plus I only wanted ducklings. So I put an ad on CL to find homes for my packing peanuts. I got rid of four chicks last night, and have someone interested in the remaining four so problem solved right?? WRONG! I went to the feed store today and what did I see Americauna pullet chicks, I have always liked those. Long story short, I got rid of four chicks last night and came home with five today! At least they are pullets and not roos.

I went into another feed store prior and they had some chicks too. When I asked the breed of these cute little black ones the response was "Bantams". I asked if they were a certain type and my response was " their just Bantams". Now I'm no chicken pro by no means, but if I'm not mistaken there are different types of Bantams, i.e. RIR, Silkies, Blk. Rosecomb, etc.. Am I missing something if I get the same answer down the road "just Bantams"?

There are different breeds of bantams. It seems like most feed stores only sell them as assorted bantams. If you want specific bantam breeds I think you would have to order them from a hatchery.

As long as you have the space, Beth, and can give them a good home, everything will be fine! My advice, which also applies to myself, stay out of the feedstore this time of year. I make my husband go for me!
