two hatched but werent drying for hours and crying loudly so I used the hair dryer on it for a couple seconds and lowered the heat lamp. When I came back one had stopped moving and had yellow liquid filled in its mouth. The other one is dryer but still crying loudly. I raised the heat lamp but now I’m kinda lost on what to do. I have 6 chicks that dried and are running about not crying. Just the one is crying now.
did I overheat the poor baby? I still have 8 eggs that haven’t hatched and I’m soo stressed out.

If they are in the incubator and just hatched, leave them alone for 24 hrs. It takes them that long to dry. They don’t need assistance from us. Don’t take them out of the incubator until they dry by themselves. If they’re chirping then that’s okay it means they’re alive and healthy, they’ll eventually sleep a lot and try to walk then go back to sleep then chirp and so on

They hatched over night and were in there for at least 12 hours without drying. I don’t have a fan In my incubator so they just sit in a stinky humid box. I think they dried with egg yolk all over them so it’s just matted fur.
