I think I need more CHICKENS!

I KNOW I need more chickens. Now if I can just talk the hubby into getting more!

We thought 4 chickens would be enough to give us eggs and some to friends. You figure four chickens give you a dozen eggs every 3 days. We couldn't possibly eat that many eggs. Boy were we wrong! Ever since discovering the way "schmoo" hard boils fresh eggs and gets them to peel, we've been eating every single egg. Today, I'm impatiently waiting for them to lay so I can boil some more to eat <stomach growling>. There's one in the nesting box now....I wish she would hurry up!

I KNOW , WE also are wanting to get more chcickens. we also have 4. But you are getting a whole lot more eggs then we are from our 4. WE have about 12 to 14 eggs a week. WHERE are you going to get more chickens from

I would order them through the local feed store - Copley Feed. They do a big order in March from Meyers Hatchery. Makes it much easier because you can order all breeds and as few as you want. I really like the barred rocks I have and would probably stick to that breed. They are very friendly and lay wonderfully...even in the winter.

I just ordered 25 production reds from ideal hatchery and should get them tuesday and I also thru in there 4 cuckoo marans

. The production reds I am going to give half to my grandfather and six to my friend and that leaves me with seven since 25 is an odd number and so I just went and bought four americanan and four buffs and four red sexlinks from the feed store so now I am upping our numbers to 39 total after the babies get here because currently we have 14 adult layers (rir,slw,jg's, and 1anicona ,1old slmon faverole) so by late summer we will have lots of eggs I HOPE!!! I intend to sell them and get feed money ! I AM ADDICTED TO CHICKENS!!!

I would love to get that many but I think I'll be divorced if I go that high too fast!

I'm going to try for 6 more to add to the 4 I have and we'll see how that goes. I think I might be okay since we've already talked about a bigger "barn" type coop. Then I can get alot more!

I know how you fell. I started with 5 in June. In July I got 4 more. In Aug. I got 8 more. In Jan. I lost 10 to a untied dog.

. The next day I got 9 more. A wk later I got some hatching eggs and sold 4 chickens. And now I have a doz fertile eggs to hatch and 12+ coming in the mail today and a friend has a doz to hatch and 16 Button Quail eggs too. AND I got my eye on some in the auctions. It's addictive!

I'm getting mine of Craigslist so i can have eggs right now! how does the person boil eggs that is so good?
Im getting two more tomorrow

I only have 2 layers right now. the agony!
