I think I'm ready again...

I finally think I'm over my tramatic Quail disaster.
I'd like to try again with a better setup, like Hovabator etc...

1. anyone do the quail thing?
2. THink My silkies will mess with them if I let them run around in the yard?
3. What kind of quail should I try for starters. (I want californias)

I hatched button quail and I had 11 out of 13 hatch. They are flighty little things. I sold 7 to a local lady and she said two flew off on her and she gave 3 to her mom. I have 4 that I kept but I have to be careful when I clean the cage to keep them from flying out. I might wind up buying the quail cage to keep them in. If I let mine out I would never see them again. I don't have hardware cloth on the main run just chain link fence. Good luck with your quail.
