My broody silkie Morgan has been sitting on 2 eggs for 2 weeks now. A couple of days ago she gave one of the eggs the boot. It was clear and not developing when I candled it. But this morning when I went to open the little coop I have her in she was already off her egg. I touched it and it was cold.

Is there any hope? I will candle it tonight. Should I let her start all over if the egg is gone?

More then likely the egg was no good. Any time one of my hens has kicked out an egg something was wrong with it.

Did you candle the remaining one? If it is still viable you might try putting it in an incubator or on a heating pad or something warm for the next week and see what happens.

I candled both eggs when she pushed the one out of the nest. The one she pushed out was clear. The one she kept (the smae one I found cold this morning) was developing nicely. She got back on it after she ate. I will candle it when it gets dark. I am just worried about it becasue it was not warm when I touched it this morning.

~Geeze I hope I am making more sense!
